Designing and handcrafting custom timber frame homes.

Timber Frames

Gillis & Company’s homes are built around the highest quality timber frames available. Our frames are designed and engineered to last centuries and feature traditional, fully-housed joinery, hand carved details and unique embellishments. We provide each client with a customized package that meets all of their needs and works within their budget.

We enjoy the challenge of making the timber frame work with each element of your home, and seek out innovative designs and details for our timber frames.

In addition to our timber frames, we can supply a number of other wood-based products, including:

  • Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)
  • Stairs
  • Railings
  • Solid Wood Doors
  • Custom Cabinetry
  • Solid Wood Decking and Flooring

Please call us to discuss your project needs. We will gladly prepare a quote for any additional products that you may need.

Heavy Timber Trusses

Gillis and Company can design and fabricate decorative or fully load-bearing timber trusses for any new construction project or as part of an addition to an existing home. Each truss is designed according to the customer’s specifications, and is a one-of-a-kind creation.

All of our trusses can be installed directly on top of conventionally framed walls (i.e., stud walls), Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) or Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) walls. We can also add lower brackets to most truss designs (except the scissor truss), to help visually tie the timber components with the walls on which they sit.

We can provide groups of individual trusses, such as the three decorative Hammerbeam trusses shown here or a complete, structural roof system, such as the Kingpost trusses with common rafters, also shown.

Timber Frame Entries and Small Frames

Gillis & Company can design and build a wide range of timber structures for covered porches, airlocks, gazebos or other small structures.

We offer a wide range of covered entry designs, and can incorporate any truss style into the following options:

  • An Independent, Structural Timber Frame
  • One Timber Truss with Connecting Members and Roof Pieces
  • A Single Timber Truss that Supports Conventional Framing
  • A Timber Truss Supported by Timber Brackets that are secured to the Exterior Wall

Gillis and Company can also design and build custom gazebos, picnic shelters, etc. Please call us with your ideas, and we will carefully design a structure that meets all of your needs.
